  • Deadline Extended - Vail Workshop Applications

The deadline to apply for the Vail Workshop and the SSO Vail Workshop Award has been extended to Tuesday, March 31. The 2020 AACR/ASCO Methods in Clinical Cancer Research Workshop (also known as the Vail Workshop) is an intensive workshop in the essentials of effective clinical trial designs of therapeutic interventions in the treatment of cancer for clinical fellow and junior faculty clinical researchers in all oncology subspecialties, including radiation and surgical oncology and radiology. This meeting takes place in Vail, Colorado annually. The 2020 meeting will be held July 25-31 at the Vail Marriott Mountain Resort.

Beyond teaching trial design and the challenges related to clinical trials, the course seeks to inspire participants to devote all or a portion of their future careers to some aspect of clinical research. Application to the Vail Workshop is a competitive process and is open to clinical fellows and junior faculty in all oncology subspecialties, including radiation and surgical oncology and radiology.

Additional information can be found on the Vail Workshop website.

  • SSO 2020 Postponed to August 2020

As a result of the proliferation of COVID-19 and recognizing the responsibility to protect the health and safety of #SSO2020 attendees, their patients and their families, the SSO Executive Council has decided to postpone SSO 2020 to August 17 – 20, 2020, in Boston. With your help, we plan to transform this setback and hold the best SSO meeting ever. Summertime is beautiful in Boston, and we encourage you to bring your family to experience all that this region has to offer – from 400 years of history to the beauty and serenity of Cape Cod and Martha’s Vineyard. We hope that you will join us in Boston this summer to experience outstanding education, the highly anticipated SSO HUB and the collegial gathering of the global surgical oncology community!
